MERF – Mekong Earth Regeneration Fund SCSp
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targeted
Description of the Project
Mekong Earth Regeneration Fund SCSp (“MERF” or the “Partnership”) is a Luxembourg special limited partnership (société en commandite spéciale) investing in the restoration and sustainable management of natural capital through scalable, vertically integrated agri-food businesses across Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, collectively the Lower Mekong Region. The Fund targets equity investments in growth-stage companies spanning upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the food system, backing the transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient food systems.

MERF prioritises investee companies that adopt sustainable land management practices, improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and rural communities, reduce or sequester greenhouse gas emissions, and advance women’s economic empowerment across the value chain while generating attractive financial returns for investors. The Fund commits to investing at least 80% of its assets in sustainable investments aligned with its objectives.
MERF is classified as an Article 9 fund under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). It pursues three environmental objectives climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, and the protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems alongside two social objectives improved livelihoods for farmers and rural communities, and greater social inclusion and gender equality. Through these objectives, MERF contributes to the seven SDGs listed above.
